Camino del Minero : Fondation Nexans and Techo Colombia on the ground
Jun 6, 2025
On May 16th, volunteers from Nexans helped Camino del Minero community
For years, the Fondation Nexans and TECHO have partnered across South America to bring light and hope to underserved communities. In May 2025, the collaboration reached Colombia, where volunteers from Nexans joined forces with TECHO Colombia to support the Camino del Minero community. Here's a look back at a meaningful day in images.
A Day to Remember in Cali
May 16, 2025, marked a milestone for the volunteers of Centelsa by Nexans, the Colombian branch of the Nexans Group. Alongside the local team from the NGO TECHO Colombia, they traveled to the Camino del Minero neighborhood, located in the southern outskirts of Cali—Colombia’s third-largest city.
Their mission? To install nearly 20 solar-powered streetlights across this underserved neighborhood.
This initiative was deeply impactful—not only for the volunteer teams but also for the local residents, who now benefit from safer, more autonomous living conditions.

A long-standing commitment to social impact
TECHO and the Fondation Nexans have been working hand-in-hand for years, installing off-grid solar lighting solutions in disadvantaged neighborhoods throughout Chile, Colombia, and Peru. These installations are far more than just lighting—they are tools for empowerment and safety.
By providing a reliable, affordable, and sustainable source of light, these communities are no longer constrained by daylight hours. Families can now carry out daily tasks, study, and socialize after dark, all in a safer environment.
Nexans Employees: The Heart of the Mission
These volunteer missions, held annually, highlight the unwavering commitment of the Nexans Foundation and the company’s employees. Their dedication and enthusiasm are always at the forefront.
As Luz Gallego, coordinator of the Fondation Nexans in Colombia, explains:
“This initiative not only allowed us to support the development and well-being of a community in need, but it also built on the work we started last year. It reaffirms our mission to bring light and safety to those who need it most.”
She adds:
“I’m proud to lead these initiatives and witness the genuine commitment of our employees, whose energy and dedication truly make a difference.”
