Sponsored by the Nexans Foundation since 2014, the "Seeds of Hope" project aims to improve employability and promote the socio-professional integration of young people in promising sectors. The objective is to modernize the supply of training in the electricity trades and adapt it to the needs of companies.

Launched in Lebanon in 2007, the project was spun off in Morocco in 2014 and Ivory Coast in 2016.

The IECD relies on existing training centers and aims to improve their offer in the electricity field. The project aims at recreating the link with companies to meet their needs, allow the young people to fit socially and professionally, and make them actors in the development of their country. By working on a global approach to initial training, the "Seeds of Hope" programme enables young people to achieve sustainable social and professional integration.

Sustainable social and professional integration in Lebanon

Youth unemployment, especially since the outbreak of the health crisis, is a real issue in Lebanon (35%). Moreover, a large number of young people work in the informal sector, which does not allow them to have a stable situation. At the same time, the energy sector, which provides jobs, has difficulty recruiting competent technicians. Vocational training in the energy sector is not adapted to the needs of companies. A team from IECD and students were welcomed to Nexans Lebanon’s Innovation Day.

Equipment of traning centers in Morocco

Nexans Morocco equipped 5 training centres with donated electrical cables to enable apprentices to carry out practical work in the workshop. Future construction electricians and electromechanics also received valuable advice through workshops on job search techniques run by Nexans employees.

Cables donation in Ivory Coast

Youth unemployment, especially since the outbreak of the health crisis, is a real issue in Ivory Coast (22%). Moreover, a large number of young people work in the informal sector, which does not allow them to have a stable situation. At the same time, the energy sector, which provides jobs, has difficulty recruiting competent technicians. Vocational training in the energy sector is not adapted to the needs of companies.

Nexans Ivory Coast donated cables for the training centres and organised educational plant visits for the students.
