The Foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary in Ivory Coast
Jun 12, 2023On June 2, 2023, Nexans Ivory Coast celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Fondation Nexans during a "Meet Up" event gathering professionals from the real estate and electricity sectors. Recognizing the significance of electricity as a driving force for development, Nexans took this opportunity to highlight the various initiatives of the Foundation aimed at promoting access to energy for all.
Established in 2013, the Fondation Nexans supports the development of electrification in disadvantaged areas worldwide by financing local associations for various social actions. In Ivory Coast, the Foundation has been working in partnership for nearly 5 years with the NGOs SHEKINA and AMISTAD, respectively, for the electrification of healthcare centers and the empowerment of women working as electricians in remote regions of the country. Representatives from these organizations had the opportunity to speak about their partnership with the Foundation.
Diane Zakro, Vice President of SHEKINA, presented the project "Solar Energy for Better Health in Ivory Coast" project. Financed 80% by the Fondation Nexans, this project has electrified 14 healthcare centers, benefiting over 70,000 people in disadvantaged regions of the country. The project continues with the electrification of 10 additional healthcare centers planned for 2023. This occasion allowed the Vice President to commend the unwavering support of the Foundation, which now enables better patient care, particularly for women in labor in these regions, through the provision of healthcare centers equipped with solar energy.
Brice Delagneau, President of AMISTAD, highlighted the ERUPIE project (Rural Entrepreneurship around Innovative Productive Uses of Electricity), launched in March 2023. This project will have a positive impact on economic development, skills, and living conditions for local populations in villages in the Marahoué region in western Ivory Coast, benefiting over 13,000 people.
The Fondation Nexans continues its efforts to improve access to energy in disadvantaged areas, thereby contributing to socio-economic development and the well-being of local communities in Ivory Coast. As it celebrates its 10th anniversary, the Foundation reinforces its commitment to promote sustainable electrification and create a better future for all.
