Focus on the IECD / Nexans Foundation project in Ivory Coast

On November 20th 2018, we received a team from the European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD) who came to talk to us about their commitment, their ongoing projects and the mission that the Nexans Foundation is supporting this year in Ivory Coast but also for several years in Lebanon and Morocco.

In a few figures, the IECD is:
- 4 areas of intervention: training and professional integration, education, entrepreneurship and health
- 12,000 young people trained in 2017 to meet the technical skills needs of local businesses
- 43% of funds dedicated to vocational training
- 5,000 entrepreneurs supported in the creation of their business
- 100 partners, including 60 training schools

Focus on the IECD / Nexans Foundation project in Ivory Coast

As a reminder, Nexans inaugurated a new plant in Ivory Coast on November 9th 2018. Based in Abidjan, this cable, transformer and prefabricated substation manufacturing plant will support the country's electrification and residential and tertiary construction programme.                                           

Nexans Ivory Coast is supporting the project supported by the Nexans Foundation by offering training to about thirty students from the Bonoua training centre in Bonoua (Ivory Coast) at the CAP Electricien, sponsored by IECD.

The visit of the new site in Abidjan completed this training and an end-of-study internship was offered to 7 students from the class.
