10 years of positive impact in Chile

On November 16th, 2023, Madeco by Nexans celebrated the Fondation Nexans’ 10th anniversary in Chile. This event was a great occasion to reflect on how collaborative work between the Fondation and NGOs has positively impacted communities in Chile.

A reflection on the positive impact of Fondation Nexans

The event shed light on how energy and collaboration are key for a sustainable future for communities. An opportunity to reflect and showcase diverse initiatives supported by Fondation Nexans in partnership with the NGO TECHO, such as the flagship project “Safety Light in the Neighborhood”.

A panel discussion with first-class experts was held to shed light on projects that enhanced access to energy for all:

• Trinidad Castillo, Executive Director at WEC Chile
• Juan Carlos Jobet, Dean of the Business School of Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez

Among the participants, a few were employees of Madeco by Nexans that have participated as volunteers in previous projects, showing the deep dedication of Nexans’ employees.

Lighting up lives in the Andean region

Thanks to the work carried out with TECHO Chile, the Fondation Nexans has been able to contribute since 2020 with the implementation of more than 300 solar public lights in Chile through the "Safety Light in the Neighborhood" program. The initiative has reached nine regions of Chile, impacting the quality of life of more than 12 thousand families. This project makes it possible to illuminate paths, the route to work, school, avoid accidents, and reduce the sense of insecurity of the neighbors. 

The "Safety Light in the Neighborhood" project was also launched in 2023 in Peru and Colombia, aiming to positively impact more than 4,500 people through the installation of more than 180 solar public lighting poles.

Those initiatives in the region directly contribute to the seventh Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of the UN to guarantee affordable and clean energy.

A promising future with renewed commitment for the Fondation Nexans

The Fondation Nexans, founded in 2013, arises as a natural evolution of the Nexans Group's commitment to allowing access to energy to disadvantaged populations around the world.

This year, the Fondation Nexans marks a decade of impressive accomplishments and significant impact by providing electricity, supporting education, and advancing sustainable development for underprivileged communities worldwide. With over 145 projects across five continents, the Fondation has touched the lives of more than 2.2 million people, thanks to the hard work of Nexans' employees and the dedication of our partner NGOs.

The Fondation shares with the NGOs it supports a common goal of achieving 100% electrification and bridging the gap by 2030.

We are embarking on an exciting journey with a momentum that will only continue to grow and look forward to the months and years to come with renewed commitment and enthusiasm.
