Shems'y Village: A Model of Resilience Highlighted at Climate Day

Following the devastating earthquake that struck Morocco in 2023, the Shems'y Village has become a true symbol of hope for orphaned children. Created by AMESIP, this refuge provides a safe and nurturing environment for 144 children aged between 1 and 18. Shems'y offers them a path to recovery based on education, culture, and psychological support tailored to their individual needs. 

Shems'y Village honored at Nexans' Climate Day 

The 4th edition of Climate Day, a flagship event organized by Nexans and dedicated to sustainable development, highlighted the Shems'y Village. Held in the historic setting of Chellah in Rabat on September 26th, this event brought together key players from civil society, the private sector, and public authorities around a common ambition: building a more sustainable future. 

The Fondation Nexans chose to present the Shems'y project as a concrete example of community resilience and sustainable development. Indeed, this project, winner of the Foundation's 2024 call for projects, perfectly combines emergency aid and long-term support for vulnerable populations. This innovative approach is in line with the objectives of Climate Day: "Building a sustainable future". 

Although funding for the Shems'y project was approved before Climate Day, the event was an opportunity to increase its visibility and strengthen existing partnerships. The presentation of the project raised awareness among a wide audience of the importance of supporting initiatives for vulnerable children and promoting sustainable development models. 

Support from the Fondation Nexans and Nexans Morocco

Thanks to a strong partnership between the Fondation Nexans and Nexans Morocco, the Shems'y Village has benefited from multifaceted support. The Fondation Nexans provided funding dedicated to the installation of solar panels, thus ensuring the village's energy autonomy. For its part, Nexans Morocco, with its expertise in the energy field, provided all the cables and electrical equipment necessary for the implementation of this large-scale project. 

These joint actions have enabled the Shems'y Village to be equipped with a reliable and sustainable energy infrastructure, thus contributing to a significant improvement in the living conditions of its inhabitants. 

Shems'y Village, a promising future 

The Shems'y Village is much more than just a place of accommodation. It is a living space where children can grow, learn, and flourish. Thanks to the support of the Fondation Nexans and the commitment of all the actors involved, the Shems'y Village offers a promising future for these young people who have suffered so much. 

The partnership between the Fondation Nexans and AMESIP is a concrete example of the private sector's commitment to solidarity and sustainable development. By highlighting initiatives such as the Shems'y Village, Climate Day helps to inspire and mobilize new actors to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
