IECD "Seeds of Hope" program in Côte d'Ivoire: Graduation of young trainees by Nexans Côte d'Ivoire's Managing Director
Jul 30, 2019Sponsored by the Nexans Foundation since 2014, the IECD (European Institute for Cooperation and Development) implements vocational training projects to promote the sustainable integration of young people into the labour market.
The Seeds of Hope programme, which aims to improve the employability and promote the socio-professional integration of young people in promising sectors, began in Côte d'Ivoire in 2016 with two private centres: the Bonoua Technical Centre (BTC) and the Duékoué Rural Handicraft Professional Centre (CPAR) - Don Bosco.
In parallel, the IECD has been designing a new 11-week qualifying training course in building electricity at the Bonoua Technical Centre since the summer of 2017.
This programme is aimed at young adults in precarious employment seeking a qualification in the construction sector.
In 2018, this training was continued and consolidated, notably through the partnership with Nexans Côte d'Ivoire, which welcomed interns.
The Managing Director of Nexans Côte-d'Ivoire, Mr. Abdelkrim Alaoui, sponsor of the 2018 Class, presented their diplomas to the young interns at the beginning of this year.
One of the trainees was trained as a "cable reeling operator" and hired at Nexans.
